About us
It all started in 1984 at the age of 16 and 21 with a borrowed house tent and a Ford Fiesta on a trip through France. This was followed by trips to America and Australia in rented campers before we became a camper family with our children. From then on we drove through Europe in our caravan for almost ten years before we switched to a mobile home in 2014. When we were on the road in Iceland in 2016, we discovered that our street motorhome was unable to reach the remote landscapes off the ring road. We started to wonder what it would be like to be on the road in a four-wheel drive vehicle. We couldn’t get rid of this idea and soon became the focus of our planning. In mid-2017 we began to realize our vision of having a truck-based expedition vehicle built. After a year of research, we decided on the Mercedes Benz Arocs 1835 A 4×4 as the base vehicle. We held discussions with the body builders known in the market and spent a lot of time at trade fairs. Our decision fell on the Frank Woelcke company in Heimsheim. With his team of outstanding specialists and first-class advice, we were able to take over our Skeidarar completely satisfied after the scheduled construction time at the end of 2019. It was a very special moment for us combined with the anticipation of soon being able to travel to the remote parts of our earth. Before we leave Europe, we want to continue to travel to the diverse countries of our home continent. It is very nice that we can share our enthusiasm for overlanding with our children and partners, who are now on the road with their own off-road vehicles @4motionadventure and @silasbaehr.
